We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker (PSW) to join our pastoral team starting in January 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an empathetic and proactive individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional, social, and behavioral support to students, ensuring their well-being and personal development.
- Work closely with Heads of Year and the wider pastoral team to identify and address barriers to learning.
- Support students in overcoming challenges and improving their attendance, punctuality, and engagement.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to pastoral care.
- Develop and deliver small group interventions and 1:1 mentoring sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress and well-being, maintaining accurate records.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive school environment that promotes positive behavior and respect.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and promoting their well-being.
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, social care, or youth work setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and empathetically.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation.
- Experience in delivering mentoring or group interventions.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or education.
