Personal Care Assistant – SEN School (Ages 3–16)
Location: Oxfordshire
Full-Time
Salary: £95 – £110 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a compassionate, patient, and experienced Personal Care Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs (SEN)?
We’re looking for a dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join a nurturing, inclusive school catering to pupils aged 3 to 16, many of whom have complex learning needs and require personal care support throughout the day.
This is a deeply rewarding role for someone who understands the importance of dignity, respect, and trust in care. You will be a valued and vital member of a multidisciplinary team, helping students to access their education and daily routines safely and comfortably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group personal care support, including toileting, changing, and hygiene routines
- Assist pupils with physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs throughout the school day
- Support transitions between activities, including lunchtime and outdoor play
- Follow individual healthcare and education plans under the guidance of SENCOs and therapists
- Promote independence, dignity, and confidence at every opportunity
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN and personal care needs
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection in an educational setting
- Experience with manual handling and use of hoists (training can be provided)
- A warm, empathetic nature and ability to build trusting relationships
- Resilience, flexibility, and a proactive attitude
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
