About the Role

Principal Education are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Head of Economics to join a high-achieving secondary school in Ilford for a 1-year maternity cover starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Economics specialist with leadership experience (or looking to step up) to lead a successful department and make a real impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Economics department
  • Deliver high-quality Economics lessons at KS4 and KS5
  • Plan and develop the curriculum in line with national standards
  • Monitor student progress and raise attainment
  • Support and guide teaching staff within the department
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Degree in Economics (essential)
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience teaching Economics at KS4 & KS5
  • Previous leadership experience or strong potential to lead
  • Excellent subject knowledge and classroom practice
  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Been a behaviour mentor for 4 years and I've been unlucky enough to have only worked with jai bance for the past 3 months.
