Duties and responsibilities
- Delivering small group work, one-to-one support, revision lessons (in groups or one-to-one) or Additional support (e.g cover lessons) as directed by the Head of Department
- Work collaboratively with the department and school colleagues by planning resources that are differentiated for students
- To assist teachers and other relevant staff by preparing resources, implementing strategies and promoting the active inclusion, participation and learning of students.
- Identify learning gaps and help to shape a bespoke intervention programme for pupils
- Have clear assessment strategies to identify gaps in knowledge, give feedback to the students and then give the students an opportunity to respond to that feedback in line with the schools assessment policy principles.
- Manage behaviour of pupils in line with the school’s behaviour policy
- Differentiate sessions in line with students’ ability, taking into account any barriers to learning or additional needs
- To actively respond to students’ diverse needs both in and out of the classroom environment
- Derive measurable outcomes from each session to track progress using the tracking sheet and ensure this is logged on the Academy’s academic mentor tracking system after each session.
- Be aware of student progress data and use this to inform individualised approaches to improve student progress
- Assist with after school interventions as directed by the Head of Department
- Review student homework regularly and assist and sanction students where appropriate
- To be an active member of the school community and participate in the duties that contribute to the school community as directed by the academy
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the relevant policies and procedures
- Uphold the Academy’s disciplinary rules and staff code of conduct
- Follow the Academy’s health and safety requirements
- Contribute to the maintenance of a caring and stimulating environment for young people
- Always act in accordance with the statutory frameworks that set out how the Academy must operate
- Carry out any other reasonable duties within the scope of the post as directed by the Headteacher or other senior manager.
Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the post holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
