We are now seeking an exceptional Head of English to lead and develop our dynamic and dedicated English department.

As Head of English, you will play a central role in shaping the future of the department and ensuring our students enjoy a rich, stimulating English curriculum.

The Role:

• Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.

• Develop and implement an inspiring and ambitious English curriculum across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5.

• Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development for a team of dedicated English teachers.

• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to drive improvement and raise attainment.

• Foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking, encouraging students to become passionate, confident readers and writers.

• Lead the development of departmental initiatives, including extracurricular activities, clubs, and school productions.

• Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the English department’s vision aligns with the school’s goals.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Be a qualified teacher with QTS and substantial experience in teaching English at Key Stage 3, 4, and ideally 5.

• Have experience of leadership or management within an English department or a similar role.

• Possess excellent knowledge of English curriculum development and assessment.

• Be an inspiring and innovative educator, passionate about English and committed to fostering a love of literature in students.

• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team of teachers.

• Be proactive in creating an environment of high expectations, challenge, and achievement.
