Head of PE Needed – Secondary School in South West London

ABOUT THE ROLE

A high-performing secondary school in South West London is seeking a dynamic, organised, and inspiring Head of PE to lead its Physical Education department. You’ll be responsible for driving high standards across KS3–KS5, managing a strong PE team, shaping curriculum delivery, and ensuring students receive an exceptional sports education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching across KS3–KS5
Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and progression
⚽ Manage and promote extracurricular sports, fixtures, and enrichment activities
Support and develop the PE teaching team
Track data, monitor outcomes, and drive continuous improvement
Maintain outstanding behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusion standards
Liaise with SLT and contribute to whole-school strategic development

REQUIREMENTS

✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
✔ Strong experience teaching PE in UK secondary schools
✔ Proven leadership ability or readiness to step into leadership
✔ Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management
✔ Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
✔ Right to work in the UK
✔ Full-time availability, Monday to Friday

Experience as a Head of Department is desirable — but exceptional PE teachers ready for progression will also be considered.
