Location: Ealing, London
Contract: Full‑time, Permanent

Holidays: 35 days per year plus bank holidays

Role & Responsibilities
As part of our Estates Team, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the school grounds to the highest standard. This is a varied role that involves working primarily outdoors — through all seasons — and contributing to the presentation, safety, and upkeep of our sports fields, landscaping, and general site. Key duties will include:

General grounds maintenance: mowing, edging, and upkeep of lawns, hedges, and perimeter areas.

Upkeep and preparation of sports pitches: marking, repairing, and maintaining turf to support fixtures and practices.

Litter control, leaf clearance, and maintaining cleanliness of outdoor areas.

Working with grounds equipment and machinery safely (mowers, strimmers, etc.).

Assisting with landscaping, gardening, and planting as required.

Supporting health & safety protocols for ground use, including security checks and preventing hazards.

Working closely with other estates staff to deliver a coordinated maintenance service.

Helping with ad hoc tasks and improvements as agreed with the Estates Manager.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or a similar outdoor role.

Is reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Has a good understanding of health & safety, especially in an outdoor context.

Can operate lawn/grounds equipment safely.

Is adaptable and able to work in different weather conditions.

Is committed to the ethos of St Benedict’s and takes pride in presenting a well-maintained environment.

Has good communication skills and a practical, hands-on attitude.
