Teaching Assistant | Norwood Junction Alternative Provision
An Alternative Sixth Form Provision in Norwood Junction is searching for a SEMH Assistant to work 1:1 to with a student with SEMH needs. The student 15-18 year olds with minor emotional behaviour issues, they will need strong supporting role model.
The provision has been open for over 10 years with a management team that hold over 50+ years’ experience. The team is well run and overly supportive, offering training, courses and pastoral meetings for staff.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- To monitor, record and review progress of individual students and to share information with relevant staff and parents / carers
- To provide information advice and guidance to specific students and their parents/carers.
- To be a key worker for identified students and liaise with Grange staff and external agencies to support academic and personal progress.
- To plan and deliver intervention programs to a small cohort of students to develop their social and emotional skills – tracking and evidencing progress.
- To plan and deliver elements of supportive interventions e.g. anger management
- To work with other Inclusion colleagues to provide ‘out of the classroom’ learning experiences.
- To facilitate, where appropriate, extra-curricular activities to engage and motivate students.
- To support the inclusive ethos of the school.
Special Conditions of Service:
Because of the nature of the post, candidates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 as amended. Candidates are required to give details of any convictions. Also, as this post allows substantial access to children, candidates are required to comply with departmental procedures in relation to Police checks.
