Head of Languages Role – Aldgate Area
Not suitable for ECTs
This is a brilliant opportunity for an innovative and passionate individual to lead and inspire a small but mighty KS3-4 department in Aldgate.
The school is looking to welcome an innovative and vibrant full-time Head of Modern Foreign Languages to join their inclusive and friendly team.
The successful candidate should be a Spanish specialist with excellent curriculum knowledge, communication skills and a passion for global learning, as well as a desire to contribute to the wider school community.
This post would suit an accomplished teacher looking to step up to middle leadership, as well as someone with more experience looking for a role in a supportive and person-centred environment.
The Modern Foreign Languages Department at this school is an established and successful curriculum area in the school, with 87% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in 2022. Their two taught subjects are Spanish and Mandarin, with room for extra-curricular languages in their enrichment hour. There is a culture of collaborative planning and teaching with frequent opportunities for professional development and growth.
Community languages are a strength at the school and the successful candidate should have an interest in working with students from myriad backgrounds to ensure that they are able to access relevant GCSE qualifications. There will also be an opportunity for the right candidate to have line management responsibilities – notably of our small EAL department.
International partnerships and exchanges are embedded with schools around the world, providing staff the opportunity to travel and develop students’ language skills beyond the classroom. This year, the school has been awarded the British Council’s International School’s Award Accreditation in recognition of their commitment to global education.
They were delighted to be awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted in June 2018, this recognises the hard work and progress made by all in the school.
If you are a high-calibre MFL teacher and you are available to teach from September, don’t miss this chance.
