SEN Teaching Assistant – Hounslow – ASAP Start – Perm

Our Client is a special school for children aged 3 – 11 years with severe and profound learning difficulties including those with an additional diagnosis of autism.
They are a recently expanded primary special school, providing an exciting, innovative and personalised curriculum for all pupils. OFSTED recently rated the school “Good” (Feb 18). There school is located on two sites, each with specialist support and facilities, appropriate to the age of the pupils. To meet the individual needs of their pupils, classes are small and teaching staff work closely alongside support staff.

Our client is looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants with a real passion for, and commitment to, teaching children with complex learning needs.
You will work under the instruction of teaching/senior staff to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. This will involve assisting the teacher with planning and assessment, including leading small group sessions and the management / preparation of resources.

Job Role:

– Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils

– Attend to the pupil’s personal needs and implement related personal programme, including social, health, physical,

hygiene, first aid, medical and welfare matters

– Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations

– Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities

– Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate

– Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment, including classroom preparation of assistance with displays
